Description

Medium-sized versatile gundog with distinctive harsh, wiry coat and characteristic beard and eyebrows. Known as the 'supreme gundog' with excellent pointing and retrieving abilities and an intelligent, friendly disposition.

History

Developed in the late 19th century by Dutch breeder Eduard Korthals, who worked in both Germany and France. His goal was to create the ultimate versatile walking-hunter's gun dog by crossing various pointing breeds, spaniels, and retrievers. Often called 'Korthals Griffon' in his honor.
